On May 2nd, 2024, Executive Director Shobhana Verma joined Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias‘ office for a private screening and conversation with Billy Dec and his award-winning film FOOD ROOTS.
The movie charted Dec as he traveled throughout the Philippines to connect with his roots and inspired many others to embrace their own stories, celebrate their heritage, and strive for authenticity and depth in their lives. The screening was part of AANHPI Heritage Month celebrations.
