SAAPRI is proud to offer a unique, classroom-ready resource to help educators meet Illinois’ TEAACH Act requirements by incorporating South Asian American history into their broader Asian American curriculum.

If you’re an educator seeking to enrich your classroom with authentic, community-rooted narratives, we invite you to explore our South Asian American Oral History Project—and take advantage of our Professional Development (PD) opportunities to learn how to implement our ready-to-use, three-day student workshop.

What You’ll Gain from Our PD Workshops:

During these two-hour virtual sessions, you’ll:

  • Learn how to incorporate firsthand oral histories into classroom instruction
  • Explore SAAPRI’s curated three-day workshop aligned with TEAACH standards
  • Receive 2 CPDU credits upon completion
  • Connect with other educators committed to inclusive and intersectional teaching

Cost: $50

Format: Virtual (2 CPDU credits)

  • September 26 | 12:30–2:30 PM Central Time
  • November 12 | 8:30–10:30 AM Central Time

Spring 2026 Dates:

  • January 20 | 8:30–10:30 AM Central Time
  • April 24 | 12:30–2:30 PM Central Time

To access SAAPRI’s complete Workshop Guide, you must either attend a PD session or request access by contacting us directly. You may also choose to bring in our Education Consultant to lead the workshop in your classroom.
