Finance Manager

With more than 35 years of experience in accounting, finance, grants management, budgeting, and financial reporting, Murtaza serves as SAAPRI’s Finance Manager. He has been with SAAPRI since 2021, overseeing day-to-day financial operations, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, grant billing, budgeting, reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting to leadership and the Board.
Prior to joining SAAPRI, he served as Finance Manager at Apna Ghar, Inc.. He has also served as a Senior Accountant at an accounting firm and as Finance Officer at the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission, where he managed the financial operations of a multi-employee department and oversaw financial reporting for multiple federal grant projects. He also has extensive experience in tax preparation and currently operates a private accounting and tax practice.
He holds a B.S. in Accounting and Economics from Northeastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Commerce from India, along with additional training in SAP, budgeting, accounting, finance, and project management.
