Anushka Das serves as SAAPRI’s Programs and Operations Associate, where she oversees the organization’s core program areas: Democracy & Civic Action, Health Equity & Wellness, and Access to Justice. She leads major research and advocacy projects focused on civic engagement, language access, and immigration justice, while coordinating SAAPRI’s fellows, interns, and community partnerships. Her work bridges data-driven research, public education, and community-centered policy design to strengthen South Asian representation and equity in Illinois and beyond. She is currently based in Columbus, Ohio, and travels to Illinois as needed for SAAPRI’s work.
Anushka graduated from The Ohio State University in May 2023 with dual degrees: a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE), along with a minor in Cognitive Science. A graduate of the Law and Society Scholars Program, she brings an interdisciplinary understanding of governance, human behavior, and social systems to her policy and research work.
Having grown up in New Delhi, India, and immigrated to the United States as a teenager, Anushka’s experiences has deeply shaped her commitment to justice, belonging, and representation within the South Asian diaspora. Outside of work, Anushka enjoys singing and exploring music across genres, from EDM to ghazals and Sufi classics, alongside reading about South Asian regional politics, Partition history, separatist movements, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog.
