SAAPRI Open Mic – Aap Ki Kahani

Posted on November 5, 2023December 8, 2023 by SAAPRI
  • Aap Ki Kahani

On November 5th, 2023, SAAPRI hosted a open mic event at Chiya Chai (Logan Square) to share stories about the importance of voting and civic engagement. We also highlighted the different ways you can be involved in the upcoming elections!

Additionally, we had a few special guests join us: Sonny Patel performed an Aalap on his flute. Asif Anwar is a Bangladeshi musician, and he shared a song that talks about equality and a dream of a “borderless” world. State Rep. Olickal also was in attendance.

Thank you to all those who attended our event!

The Psychology of Hate: Understanding the Roots of Prejudice

Hate doesn’t begin with violence, it often begins with everyday biases, stereotypes, and threats to belonging. This session explores the psychological processes that shape prejudice and exclusion, and how they can escalate into hostility. Together, we’ll discuss how understanding these roots can help communities, including South Asians, foster empathy and counter hate before it takes hold.
