On May 17th, 2023, Executive Director Shobhana Verma joined WBEZ’s Reset panel on “Creating Culturally Competent Care For Asian Americans.” The panel discussed the barriers and stigma Asian Americans face when it comes to both physical and mental health and how groups like SAAPRI and KAN-WIN are working to increase access to culturally-competent care. To be able to truly meet our diverse communities’ needs, we need to disaggregate AANHPI data and not categorize more than 50 ethnic subgroups as one monolithic group.
