On May 14th, 2020, SAAPRI’s Executive Director Shobhana Verma joined guest speakers from various local South Asian American organizations on a webinar regarding the 2020 Census.
To celebrate Asian American Heritage Month, the Indo-American Democratic Organization (IADO) led a series of webinars. Each webinar raised awareness of various vital topics for our South Asian American community and engaged our community virtually through informative and insightful discussions. Each webinar featured guest speakers from various local South Asian American organizations, including Shobhana from SAAPRI.
The 2020 U.S. Census is underway, and we all need to be counted. Census results will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding will come to our communities every year for the next 10 years. Panelists highlighted the importance of completing the Census and the efforts being made to ensure a complete and accurate count of our diverse South Asian communities especially during COVID-19.
