On April 19th, 2022, SAAPRI hosted a private invitation-only community roundtable event at SAAPRI Board Member Susan Patel’s venue, Urban Convene at 2711 West Peterson Avenue, on the north side of Chicago. The event aimed to celebrate the historic appointment of Geri Sanchez Aglipay as Regional Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Madam Administrator was invited for a meet-and-greet with the South Asian American small business community followed by a roundtable discussion.
The discussion brought South Asian American entrepreneurs and small business owners together with the SBA to discuss advancing minority owned entrepreneurship, which is critical in the growth of an inclusive economy that works for all. Our guests also discussed economic development, racial equity, and how anti-asian hate impacts diaspora businesses.
