SAAPRI’s Ami Gandhi was honored to discuss voting rights, immigration, and the power of diverse coalitions with Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. on his TV show UpFront, which aired from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 on Word Network (Directv channel 373). Also joining the conversation were Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, and Professor Lewis Myers of Chicago State University.

SAAPRI also recently co-hosted an event with Leadership Greater Chicago at Mayer Brown LLP about the impact of recent Supreme Court decisions on the voting rights of diverse communities of color. SAAPRI added the South Asian American perspective to a lively discussion about the implications of these laws, both here in Illinois and across the country. For more details, please click here.
