SAAPRI Releases 2015 Civic Engagement Report

This 2015 report analyzes data from the United States Census Bureau, the Voter Activation Network, and other recent research to highlight voter registration, engagement, and mobilization among South Asian Americans in Illinois. Community-based organizations, policymakers, government officials, media outlets, and the public at large can learn about civic and electoral engagement of this growing population by utilizing the report’s tables, regression analysis maps, and institutional map. This report provides specific tools to assist the South Asian American community in targeting civic engagement efforts to increase the impact. This report is by Harish I. Patel, Masters Candidate at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (UIC-CUPPA), and Ami Gandhi, Executive Director of South Asian American Policy and Research Institute (SAAPRI).
